Psalms of the Summer: Security

Sometimes, all you need to know is that someone is standing by your side. Today, we are reminded that the Lord Almighty is the one standing by the side of all his people. During natural disasters and threats to body and life, the Lord remains our refuge and strength. The Apostle Paul relied on this reality as he stood before the Roman authorities. At first, it seemed as if no one came to his defense. But the Lord stood by his side and gave him strength and delivered him from the mouth of the lion. The disciples experienced this truth during a windy night on the Sea of Galilee. As they strained to row across the water, they saw a figure they thought was a ghost. But it was Jesus. He rebuked their fears and gave them a real reason to be courageous. Through it all, the Lord is there for his people. He has given us his word.
