What We Believe
River of Life Lutheran Church exists to bring God’s refreshing truth to thirsty souls in our community.
But what does that mean?
The Bible teaches that every single one of us is born in sin and in desperate need of God’s undeserved love.
At first, that truth is hard to swallow—for all of us. But much like a visit to the doctor’s office, hearing the truth is more important than being told what you want to hear.
And, like a great doctor, God has a plan. This is why he sent his Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus came to live like we couldn't, to die like we should’ve, so that we might have a life we never would’ve imagined.
We’re a Bible-believing church.
But what does that mean?
Every Christian church should be Bible-believing, but we think it is most helpful to explain what we believe the Bible teaches. Here is a quick sample of what we believe about the Bible and the Son of God:
The Bible is God's inspired Word, without error.
Jesus Christ is true God and true man in one person.
Jesus is the only Savior for the people of the world.
All are born in sin and need the forgiveness won by Jesus.
People are saved by grace through faith in Jesus.
God gives spiritual blessings through the good news of Jesus.
The continuing purpose of this congregation, as a gathering of Christians, is to serve all people in God's world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ on the basis of the Holy Scriptures. (Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:15)
Our official church name (River of Life Evangelical Lutheran Church) includes the word "evangelical" which means “good news.” Therefore, we recognize a local and world-wide mission responsibility to spread the good news of Jesus Christ to others.
