Messy but Marvelous: Marvelous Peace in the Mess

This evening's worship is an adaptation of “The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols” first introduced at King’s College in Cambridge, England, on Christmas Eve of 1918. While the lessons are the backbone of the worship service, the carols stir our hearts and souls. New organists have changed the carols and introduced new ones. In our version of this well-loved worship service, the Word takes center stage. We contemplate the ancient Old Testament promises and their subsequent fulfillment in the Gospels. In their totality, they convey a stirring and exciting message, the same one the angels announced to the shepherds in Bethlehem: (Luke 2) Today, in the town of David a Savior has been born to you. He is Christ the Lord. Glory to God in the highest!
