Losing It All: Losing Heart
Lent is a time for reflection and repentance. Our great need of salvation is driven home during this season. Much like the warriors of Israel, we are frightened by the powerful, boastful, and evil figures that taunt us and blaspheme our God. Like those soldiers, we know we have no ability to defeat the enemy on our own. We need someone who is brave, courageous, and faithful—someone who knows and trusts in God’s powerful Word. For us fights the valiant One, Jesus, who faces a more fearsome foe, the Tempter Satan, and emerges unscathed. He battled, yet was without sin, for us and for our eternal righteousness. His victory gives us the confidence to proclaim Jesus is Lord! and be saved from all sin. His victory gives us courage to stare down Satan and not blink because we know that in Christ we are more than conquerors.
