The Lord Almighty Reigns Here & Now

Love your neighbor. This is the most popular summary of the second table of the Law. But what happens when your neighbor is your enemy? Jesus anticipated that reality Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. God’s Word anticipates the messy realities of life more than we might imagine. Today, we tackle one of those messy realities. Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities because God has established them all. It is a challenging thing to submit to those who do not submit themselves to God and his Word. Yet this is exactly what Christ instructed. Even when God’s people were living in exile, God told them to pray that their captors would prosper. Why? Because through these blessings God blesses his people, too. So when we submit to worldly authorities we are demonstrating our trust in the Lord Almighty!
