The Lord Almighty Reigns Over Eternity

There are many things about God that we just don’t get. His eternal nature. His deep wisdom. His steadfast will. But just because we don’t understand these things doesn’t mean that we cannot see them. Today’s focus is on God’s patience. The Apostle Peter famously quotes Psalm 90 when he reminds us that with the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. God’s patience is far more long-suffering than any of us can imitate or imagine. But it is not limitless. Today, we hear God’s warnings to people who mistake his patience for carelessness. God will deal with sin and sinners on the Last Day. Yet, as his own children, we press on with hope. God’s return will not be merely a matter of judgment, but it will also be the day that our bodies are transformed and we are welcomed into eternal glory.
