Acts of God: Wisdom & Power

As Jesus prepared his disciples for his death and ascension, he warned them: If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. You do not belong to the world. I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. (John 15:18-19) Today, we see that reality in action. Jesus and Ezekiel are prophets who are dishonored and disregarded by their own people. Yet, the work of the prophet must not be ignored. God’s Word must be proclaimed regardless of the response. Paul, in writing to encourage the young pastor Timothy, encourages him to endure the same hardship for the sake of the Gospel. We may observe a familiar pattern in this world. May God continue to fortify us to be faithful proclaimers of his Word.
