Acts of God: Courage

Working with authority behind you makes a big difference. When you don’t have authority on your side you are always wondering if you have the support you need. Today, Jesus sends his disciples out with his authority. As they travel in pairs proclaiming the message of repentance, he also gave them the power to perform miracles. As they cast out demons and healed the sick, they gave proof to the people that they were sent by God. Yet, God in his wisdom, chose to make them rely on his providence. As they traveled from town to town, they were not to bring along extra goods. Why not? For one, extra stuff would slow them down. Secondly, God wanted them to see how his Word would impact the hearts of their hearers. As his disciples remained faithful to his Word, the Lord would provide people with generous spirits to meet their needs. Today, God’s ministers are called to serve with his authority. May God continue to give his people courage, diligence, and tenacity to fulfill their calling.
