Messy but Marvelous: Confidence Despite the Mess
How do you get ready for Christmas? Many begin to prepare their homes and hearts with music, decorations, and all kinds of baked goods. These traditions help us mark a shift in the season and prepare us for the joy of Christmas. As a body of believers, we spend the next four Sundays preparing our hearts and lives with the Word of God, prayer, and songs of praise. Today, we prepare by contemplating God’s promises. The Lord our God promises that justice will be carried out. Sin and sinners will be punished, just as God has threatened. God’s people will be delivered, just as he has promised. As we survey the mess and misery that sin has unleashed upon our world, we can still be confident. Christ will deal with sin and will deliver all those who trust in him. We have real hope!
