Live Like You’ll Live Forever: Fueled by Love

Each of us tends to think the Law and love have nothing to do with each other. Laws get in the way of us doing what we want—what we think we’d love to do. The glorious Son of God must open our eyes to the true purpose of the Law. The Law is an expression of love. That’s why Jesus could not set aside the Law (or abolish it as his enemies accused him of doing) but rather came to fulfill it. By living up to the standards of the Law and dying in the place of lawless sinners like us, we have been brought to salvation. As the Scriptures tell us: (1 Jn. 4:16) God is love. It should not be surprising that what God desires is for his people to put love into practice in their daily lives. God’s perfect love for us drives out any fear we might have when it comes to loving God with all our being and loving our neighbor as ourselves.
