Follow Me: And Share in Christ’s Blessings
For a number of weeks, we have meditated on what it means to be a follower of Christ. Today, we see that God’s view of things is very different than ours. From our perspective, things like service, sacrifice, and loss are all to be bypassed, avoided, and shunned. From God’s view, each is a necessary facet of following Christ. Christ summarizes the spirit of his ministry and shows us how he put it into practice. (Mk. 10:45) The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many. When the leader of a group lives this way, it sets the tone for how his followers live as well. We do not leverage the status we have been given to make ourselves comfortable. The Gospel compels us to set aside whatever rights we may have so that many more might know Jesus as their Lord and Savior!
